Tamworth Market
Every Tuesday and Saturday
9am – 4pm
George Street and St Editha’s Square, Tamworth Town Centre, B79 7LJ

Tamworth’s open air street market, a tradition dating back to the earliest days of the town’s history, is the pulsating heart at the centre of the community, drawing locals and visitors alike with its offerings and atmosphere.

The air is thick with the sounds of cackling voices and the scents of fresh bread, coffee, donuts and a myriad of artisan foods to tempt every appetite, not forgetting the now famous jacket potato from ‘Spudman’.

Each vendor, a market character as diverse as the goods on display, are waiting to welcome every customer – there’s the fishmonger with the catch of the day, the butcher offering an array of fresh meats, the baker with all manner of breads and cakes, even the animal members of the family are catered for on the pet stall.

Many vendors have been part of Tamworth market for generations, selling their wares passed down through family lines, they are part of Tamworth’s story, the lifeblood of the community.

A visit to the market isn’t just shopping, it’s an experience of connection: to the town, its history and its people. It’s a place to discover something new where the past and present coexist at this ever-timeless ritual.
