Explore the Staffordshire Moorlands

The Staffordshire Moorlands is home to three historic market towns and some of the most beautiful villages in the UK – a fantastic combination that creates endless opportunities for discovery.

Delve into the delights of the district, where no single day in the towns and villages is the same for visitors searching for memories and experiences to treasure.

Take the time to enjoy and explore the bustling town centres, each with their own unique history and heritage, which has shaped their individuality.

The garden town of Staffordshire, Biddulph blooms with opportunities, including a lively cultural scene and a Folk Festival in June, with plenty of shops, cafes and pubs to relax and unwind.

Take in the historic charm of Cheadle, the gateway to the Churnet Valley, with the iconic catholic church, Pugin’s Gem, soaring high over a traditional street scene that is home to a range of independent shops, as well as a superb food and drink offer.

Live like a local in Leek, known as the Queen of the Moorlands, where the town’s heritage buildings, independent shops and food and drink options, create a distinctive and authentic experience.

Get out and about in the key villages.  Take in delightful scenes, with picture-postcard features including quaint limestone buildings, streams, ponds and traditional greens, as well as a lively calendar of events that keep the community spirit alive and offers a chance for visitors to sample the local scene, in true Staffordshire Moorlands style.

You’ll find some of England’s finest countryside in the Staffordshire Moorlands, places like The Roaches which attract World-class rock climbers, keen to conquer the tricky gritstone rock formations and quieter Peak District beauty spots such as the Manifold Valley.

The geography of the Staffordshire Moorlands means water is never far away. Man made and natural waterways including canals and rivers carve through valleys and skirt by the historic towns and villages, many with walking and cycling infrastructure in place to enable visitors to go with the flow.

Visit Country Parks, lakes and reservoirs - including at Rudyard and at Tittesworth -that add another dimension to the natural beauty of the local area, with unlimited opportunities to explore in inspired landscapes that are carefully preserved and protected for visitors to enjoy.
