Discover the best things to do in South Staffordshire – Top attractions & hidden gems

In South Staffordshire, you don’t have to choose between nature, history, food, or fun. Here, you can do it all, without going far.

South Staffordshire isn’t just one place: it’s many experiences in one day.   There are so many things to do and places to explore.

Wonder at the Rock Houses in Kinver Edge, wander through Wombourne, steeped in centuries-old history, stroll down historic canal footpaths, whilst watching for rare birds at Belvide reservoir, before pausing for lunch in Georgian Brewood.

In the afternoon, hike the Tolkien Trail and absorb the ancient woodland that inspired his tales of Middle-earth. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, zip down a wire at Baggeridge Country Park.

Fresh air made you peckish?  Take in a cream tea set in the glamorous Capability Brown Parkland at Himley Hall and Park.

Finish your day with dinner in a warm village pub in a quaint village centre, such as the Medicine and Crown in charming Codsall, before resting your head for the night in a stately bedroom at Chillington Hall, or stay your way in one of Weston Park’s idyllic cottages, each with its own quirks and charms.  You’ll be spoilt for choice for accommodation and food and drink here.

The area is a mecca for savvy shoppers, too.  Penkridge Market, every Wednesday and Saturday, is South Staffordshire’s ultimate spot to shop, explore, and uncover fresh local produce, quirky antiques, and one-of-a-kind crafts.

If you’re looking for a great day out with the kids, then look no further than Play @ Lower Drayton Farm.  With play zones for both sunny and rainy days, furry friends to pet, a gift shop, and an exciting farm tractor and trailer ride, there’s something for all ages here.

Getting to South Staffordshire is easy.  So easy that you could drive right by it and never know it’s there.
