Peak Wildlife Park is another family favourite, offering a unique and immersive experience with panoramic, walkthrough exhibits allowing visitors to come face to face with exotic and endangered animals from across three continents.
Churnet Valley Railway has fine tuned the family experience, helping to preserve the past with lovely touches, including food themed journeys, hop-on hop-off visits to stations in stunning countryside along the valley track, and even festive rides to the North Pole.
Another popular venue for train enthusiasts of all ages is Foxfield Railway offering families a first-class service, with themed journeys and delicious food and drink options, all served up by a friendly team at one of Britian’s oldest heritage steam railways.
There’s something to keep all ages busy at Biddulph Grange Garden, a National Trust site where families can branch out in the Natural Play Area, spot (and even feed) the fish in the lake or look at the fossils in the geological gallery.
Nestled under Thorpe Cloud, on both banks of the River Manifold, Ilam Park is another National Park treasure for families, where beautiful Ilam Hall stands proud in gardens and grounds that are built for exploration and adventure.
Rudyard Lake Steam Railway is the perfect place for youngsters to fuel their interest in travel, riding out in style alongside beautiful Rudyard Lake on a miniature train, with themed events throughout the year.
Nature provides the perfect playground at RSPB Coombes Valley, a wonderful woodland reserve in Bradnop, offering family-friendly facilities including a canopy walkway, den building, fairy house village mud kitchen and even a story telling circle.
Families are welcome to meet and greet alpacas, and even go out trekking with these wonderful animals at Wetley Moor Alpacas, touring across the beautiful Wetley Moor Common, under the care of friendly guides at this small family business.
The soaring beauty of the Churney Valley provides a stunning setting for Kingsley Bird & Falconry Centre, home to one of the UK’s largest collection of birds of prey, and the perfect place to see and learn more about these magnificent owls, hawks and falcons.
