Boscobel House is open Wednesday to Sunday, with free parking and disabled spaces.  After your visit, don't forget there’s a lovely 20‑minute walk to picturesque White Ladies Priory, where, disguised as a woodsman with his face covered in soot, Charles II lay low after his defeat at the Battle of Worcester, before moving on to nearby Boscobel House.  

Discover the enchanting allure of Kinver Edge and its Rock Houses. This dramatic 164‑metre sandstone ridge is home to the last troglodyte dwellings occupied in England. What began in 1923 as a children’s holiday camp has blossomed into a living classroom of forest school activities, wildlife-rich green spaces, and a sense of calm that learning outdoors can bring.  

Open for both day visits and residential stays, Kingswood welcomes visitors of all ages, offering a range of family‑friendly and group programmes throughout term time, school holidays, and weekends. 

For a day quite unlike any other, complete with herons, kingfishers, tunnels and locks, take your turn on the waterways with Kinver Boat School at Kinver Lock Moorings near Stourbridge.  Kinver Boat School offers an unforgettable narrowboat adventure tailored for all, whether you’re stepping aboard for the first time or looking to hone your skills.

The South Staffordshire Railway Walk, is a revitalised former Great Western Railway line stretching approximately 5.5 miles (8.85 km) from Castlecroft to Wall Heath. This traffic‑free, gently graded trail is ideal for walking, cycling, running, and is accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs.  

Starting in Wombourne, the trail guides you through a tranquil green corridor rich with wildlife, colourful wildflowers, and cool shaded woodland. Along the way, you’ll find welcoming cafés and resting spots, perfect for pausing to soak up the scenery. 

Beyond its natural beauty, this trail delivers a rich slice of industrial heritage - old station buildings, bridges, and platform foundations whisper stories from its origins in the early 20th century. 

Get up close and personal with the Meercats at Rodbaston Animal Zone – a perfect outdoor adventure for animal lovers, young and old. 

Situated on the Rodbaston College campus in Penkridge, this delightful, small zoo features around 750 animals representing 150 species, from meerkats and lemurs to reptiles, birds, alpacas, and more, with a lively daily schedule of keeper talks, animal encounters, and craft sessions. 

Add in a café, outdoor picnic area, gift shop, and free parking, and you’ve got a recipe for a zoo-per day out. 

Enjoy a whistle-stop visit to Kinver Miniature Railway for quaint steam and diesel train rides on a raised half‑mile track accommodating 5″ and 3½″ gauges.  

Bratch Pumping Station is a captivating Victorian-era marvel affectionately known locally as Wombourne’s Fairytale Castle. This enchanting site will fascinate history buffs, architecture enthusiasts, and photographers alike 

Immerse yourself in the story of how this iconic structure helped power the local community. Striking Gothic Revival architecture, turreted towers, ornate brickwork, beautifully preserved machinery, and a postcard-perfect setting all ensure the Pumping Station is the ideal day out. 

Belvide Reservoir in South Staffordshire is a tranquil haven for nature lovers and birdwatchers. This 180-acre canal feeder reservoir, constructed in 1833, is now a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a prime spot for wildlife observation and outdoor activities.
