There are so many things to do at Alton Towers Resort that a day is never enough to enjoy Britain’s greatest escape. The resort includes all the thrills of the UK’s leading theme park - home to iconic rollercoasters and rides - three incredible themed hotels as well as a `splashtastic` waterpark, and an eighteen-hole golf course.
Witness rare and endangered species up close, while learning about the challenges these animals face in the wild at Peak Wildlife Park, where the focus is on entertainment, while emphasising the importance of conservation, education, and sustainability.
Welcome aboard a nostalgic steam train ride through the Staffordshire Moorlands, meandering through the hidden beauty of the Churnet Valley, just a stone's throw from the enchanting outskirts of the Peak District. Passengers on the Churnet Valley Railway can journey into the past along some of the most beautiful tracks in the country, sometimes with dining options including Cream Teas or breakfast with local delicacy Staffordshire Oatcakes.
A masterpiece of Victorian garden design, Biddulph Grange Garden is a quirky, playful paradise that was created by James Bateman and features his collection of plants from around the world, including the oldest surviving golden larch in Britain, brought from China in the 1850s.
There can be few better views than those enjoyed from Ilam Park, which takes in 158-acres on both banks of the River Manifold. With soaring vistas across the Peak District National Park, riverside walks and endless places to explore, this National Trust site is a splendid jewel in the White Peak.
The Nicholson Museum is located in the landmark Nicholson Institute, built in 1884 as a library, museum and art gallery. Still used for this purpose today, the museum includes exhibits gifted by local textile manufacturer Thomas Wardle, who worked closely with world-famous artist William Morris.
Set in a tranquil location overlooked by The Roaches, The Three Horseshoes Country Inn is home to the Mill Wheel Spa, where innovative treatments inspired by sunny beaches, alpine cabins and Peak District steam bath experiences, as well as a centrepiece Mill Wheel, provide a unique and memorable experience.
In Cheadle, beautiful St Giles Catholic Church came to life under the skilled design of Augustus Pugin. Completed in 1846, it became known as Pugin’s Gem and is regarded by many as his finest work - praise indeed when compared with other projects Augustus worked on, including the Palace of Westminster.
