The Staffy Trail App - Accessibility Statement

The Staffy Trail app is designed to be an inclusive companion to the sculpture trail

1. Our Commitment

The Staffy Trail app is designed to be an inclusive companion to the sculpture trail, and we want everyone to be able to enjoy it. We aim to follow WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility standards wherever possible.

2. Easy Ways to Collect Sculptures

Instead of relying only on scanning or GPS, the app uses a simple 4-digit code system to collect sculptures.

· Simple and flexible: Just enter the code shown on each sculpture’s plinth.

· Accessible for more users: Helpful if scanning is difficult or if you prefer using a keypad.

· Works anywhere: No need to rely on perfect lighting or GPS accuracy.

3. Designed with Accessibility in Mind

We’ve built the app to support a wide range of needs:

· Screen reader friendly: Works with VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android), with clearly labelled fields.

· High contrast design: Easy to read outdoors and for users with low vision.

· Adjustable text size: Supports your device’s font settings without breaking the layout.

· Simple navigation options: Includes a List View for an easier, more accessible way to browse sculptures.

We’ve built the trail themselves with accessibility in mind for a wide range of needs:

· All Staffy sculptures are accessible via ramps for wheelchairs if needed

· Most of the Staffy sculptures are on flat ground that are easy to reach for any ability

· All Staffy Trails are accessible by bus or train travel

4. Things We’re Still Improving

· Map navigation: Interactive maps can be challenging for some users. If you prefer, the List View offers a more accessible alternative.

· Those without a phone can pick up a printed map from any Staffordshire Library in Stafford, Tamworth, Lichfield, and in Stoke Library, and Stafford train station.
