Seasonal Events in Staffordshire

With a packed programme of seasonal events in Staffordshire, it’s a great place to visit at any time of year.

You can enjoy everything from theatre shows and horse-racing in winter, to one of the biggest golf tournaments in the country and legendary British music concerts in summer.

Spring Events in Staffordshire

As the county comes back to life in March, the Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter Racecourse is a pulsating day of horse-racing to get your adrenaline pumping.

For more thrilling action, head to our theme parks which open for their main season, with iconic rides and rollercoasters, and often brand new attractions you can try for the first time.

There will be hidden chocolatey treats for you to discover on Easter Egg hunts, and longer walks through our scenic landscapes at the Staffordshire Moorlands Walking Festival and the National Forest Walking Festival.

And as spring moves into summer, you can join us as we celebrate everything our incredible county has to offer on Staffordshire Day, and sample our best local produce and much more at the Stone Food & Drink Festival and Staffordshire County Show.

Summer Events in Staffordshire

You can hear some of the best British acts as they perform classic hits at Forest Live at Cannock Chase Forest every summer.

Legends like Sting, Madness and Paul Weller have featured on the bill over the years, alongside up-and-coming stars including Olly Murs, Anne-Marie, and Rag n Bone Man.

Cheer on other household names in the party atmosphere at the prestigious LIV Golf UK by JCB at the end of July, where Jon Rahm took the crown in 2024, beating the likes of Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Bryson DeChambeau.

You can enjoy ballet, classical music, comedy and more at the long-running Lichfield Festival in July, while Hot Summer Saturdays and Trentham Live bring great tunes to the beautiful lakeside arena at The Trentham Estate.

Autumn Events in Staffordshire

Join us for unique Staffordshire events from September, as the quirky Abbots Bromley Horn Dance brings the 1000-year-old tradition to village squares and country lanes.

And the British Ceramics Biennial celebrates the past, present and future of world ceramics in Stoke-on-Trent every other year, bringing some of the planet’s best contemporary ceramic artists to the city.

At Drayton Manor, the Vikings Festival has Viking drummers, fire-eaters, jugglers, and other incredible live entertainment, along with your chance to tackle the Viking-themed rides at night.

In October, our family attractions go wild for Halloween, with scare mazes for young and old at Alton Towers’ Scarefest, and the annual Screamfest at the National Forest Adventure Farm, while for something more sedate, you can always pick your own pumpkin to carve at huge patches including Lower Drayton Farm and Canalside Farm.

The spectacular events continue into the winter, but not before fireworks light up the Staffordshire sky at Alton Towers, Weston Park, Betley Bonfire, and more.

Winter Events in Staffordshire

Winter is a fabulous time to enjoy Staffordshire and you can embrace the festivities at many of our top attractions.

See the breath-taking light shows at the National Memorial Arboretum, Lichfield Cathedral and Trentham Estate, and meet Santa in his grotto at Alton Towers and Drayton Manor – or even on board The Polar Express at Churnet Valley Railway!

There’s live entertainment for Christmas at the Snowdome, and on stage at the New Vic Theatre, Regent Theatre, and Lichfield Garrick, with their acclaimed pantos.

And in the New Year, there will be fantastic bargains at McArthur Glen West Midlands for the January sales, and artisan markets in Leek, Newcastle under Lyme and our other bustling town centres.
