Getting to Staffordshire is really easy!
However you’re planning to travel to Staffordshire you’ll find us right in the middle of the UK, near to some of the country’s main motorways and train lines, as well as three international airports. Our central location, in the heart of England, makes journeys to Staffordshire easy from all areas of the UK, and beyond.
How to get to Staffordshire by road
If you’re coming by road, you can reach Staffordshire via the M1, M6, M6 Toll, M42 and M54 motorways.
The M6, which runs through the county North to South, has junctions for Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme (15 & 16), Stafford (13 & 14) and Cannock (11 & 12).
Whereas the M6 Toll, connects destinations including Cannock, Lichfield and Tamworth to the M6 and M42 bypassing Birmingham.
The M42 passes through Tamworth and the M54 through South Staffordshire, while the M1 also nearby, is connected to Staffordshire by the A50 dual carriageway from Junction 24.
The A50 route runs East to West across the county linking with the A38 for Burton upon Trent, Lichfield and Tamworth, past Uttoxeter before merging with the A500 in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent.

Travelling to Staffordshire via public transport
Visitors travelling by train to Staffordshire can enjoy excellent rail connections from the rest of the country, particularly via the West Coast Main Line which links Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford, Lichfield and Tamworth to major cities like Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and London.
Details of train times are available at National Rail and train operators include Avanti West Coast, Cross Country Trains, East Midlands Railway, London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway which run services through the county.
If you’re flying, Birmingham Airport, Manchester Airport and East Midlands Airport are all within 50 miles of Staffordshire.
And long-distance bus and coach travel operator National Express offers bus services to Stoke-on-Trent (Hanley Bus Station) from London, Heathrow Airport, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool.
