Here's our round-up of some great Staffordshire Day events to enjoy this year.
1. The Staffy Trail - new for 2026
A highlight of Staffordshire Day’s 10th anniversary is The Staffy Trail, a brand-new public art experience led by our lovable Staffy
Running across Stafford, Stoke‑on‑Trent and Tamworth, the trail features 10 Staffordshire Bull Terrier sculptures, which have been designed by local schoolchildren and artists, and inspired by local stories and places.
There are three Staffy sculptures to find in each of the three town centres, with the routes starting and finishing at main line railway stations.
Each trail will guide you through the towns, taking in local landmarks, visitor attractions, and other local businesses where you can redeem special offers via the trail app. You can also enter our prize draw to win great Staffordshire days out!
The app is available to download now, for Android and Apple - visit xx to find out more - and the trail runs for 10 weeks from Friday 1st May 2026.
Why not try and find them all this Spring?
2. The Great British Food Festival at Trentham Estate
The Staffordshire Day celebrations continue across the May Bank Holiday weekend with the return of the Great British Food Festival at Trentham Estate from 2nd to 4th May 2026.

Tamworth's Statfold Country Park will be taken over by dinosaurs this May Bank Holiday weekend as Statfold Goes Jurassic returns!
Families can enjoy meet and greets with roaming life-sized beasts, including a terrifying T-Rex, as well as learning to become a ranger and seeing the BIG Dinosaurs Alive Show.
Unwind with some dinosaur-themed crafts and unlimited rides on the miniature railway, and look out for the escaped dinos on a woodland stroll.

A thrilling day out for dinosaur lovers of all ages during Staffordshire Day weekend.
4. Staffordshire Moorlands Walking Festival
One of the standout ways to celebrate Staffordshire Day is by exploring its landscapes, and the Staffordshire Moorlands Walking Festival (24th April to 4th May) does exactly that.
Returning for three weeks up to and including the Staffordshire Day Weekend, the 2026 festival features 70+ guided walks and outdoor events, suitable for all abilities — from gentle heritage strolls to challenging moorland hikes.
Highlights include:
- A host of Staffordshire Day walks on 1st May
- Wildlife, heritage and family‑friendly routes
- Guided experiences led by local experts and volunteers
The festival celebrates the Moorlands’ scenery, communities and wellbeing, making it a perfect example of what Staffordshire Day is all about, and coincides with the anniversary of the Peak District being named as the UK's first national park in 1951.
5. The Longest Yarn 2: Britain at War
A powerful and visually striking textile exhibition at Lichfield Cathedral, The Longest Yarn 2: Britain at War has been created by community makers from across the world and offers a unique way to experience Britain’s wartime story.
Through beautifully detailed knitted and crocheted scenes, the free-to-enter exhibition, which runs from Friday 1st May to Sunday 31st May, brings to life everyday experiences during the Second World War, from rationing and evacuation to resilience, unity and the joy of peace.
Told through yarn, texture and colour, these human stories are accessible and engaging for all generations, making it an unforgettable way to connect with history.
Set within the awe‑inspiring surroundings of the UK's only medieval three-spired cathedral, the exhibition encourages reflection while celebrating creativity and community spirit.
An appeal that spans families, history lovers and craft enthusiasts alike, The Longest Yarn 2: Britain at War is a meaningful and fitting addition to Staffordshire Day events, highlighting the county’s rich heritage and strong sense of community.
6. Staffordshire Plate Raceday at Uttoxeter Racecourse
This popular Saturday fixture at Uttoxeter Racecourse, on Saturday 2nd May, features a thrilling afternoon of jump racing, with competitive fields, skilled jockeys and the prestigious Staffordshire Plate at the heart of the action.
Following the start of the Staffordshire Day celebrations on Friday, the raceday continues the sense of county pride, blending sporting drama with a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
Alongside racing, the day offers entertainment for all ages, including a children’s funfair and activities, with under‑18s going free.
