It comes following the announcement from the online fashion group Asos will invest £90m in a new fulfilment centre in Staffordshire

The 437,000 square foot DC at Fradley Park is expected to commence operations in August, creating about 2,000 new jobs over the next three years.

The new contract expands XPO's eight-year relationship with Asos, which has also renewed XPO's deal to manage its flagship fulfilment centre at Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

Mark Holland, Chief Operating Officer, Asos, which recently announced record financial results for the six months ended 28th February, says: "Over the past eight years, the XPO team has proven itself to be a superb partner for us, so we are very pleased to be expanding the scope of their role as we build the foundations for our future growth in the UK and around the world."

In addition to Barnsley and Lichfield, XPO also manages a UK returns site for Asos in Doncaster.

ASOS chose Staffordshire as its home for the new distribution centre in January 2021. At the time, Asos chief executive officer Nick Beighton said: "This significant investment in infrastructure and large-scale job creation is a reflection of the confidence Asos has in its future and the quality of the skills and talent available in this well-placed location."
