Stoke-on-Trent City Council had been successful in securing £5.6m from the Government’s Transforming Cities Fund. Funding will be used to make improvements in and around Stoke Rail Station including improvements to the surrounding roads. This is the first step towards the Council’s plans to transform the station area into a transport hub combining easy access to both rail and bus connections for which it has made a further £50m bid for. Work is due to start at the station in the summer.
