Transformation Plans Revealed For Stoke’s Largest Hotel

A global hotel chain has revealed plans to take over Stoke-on-Trent’s largest hotel as part of a £6.5m investment.

The Best Western Moat House hotel will become DoubleTree by Hilton Stoke-on-Trent and is slated to open in 2020.

The capital investment is being managed by hotel management company Michels & Taylor under a franchise agreement with Hilton.

Graham Dodd, managing director, development, UK & Ireland, Hilton, said: "It’s an exciting time to be opening two hotels in Stoke - the city remains a centre for the pottery and ceramic industry, while industries such as energy are flourishing.

"DoubleTree by Hilton Stoke-on-Trent will undergo a £6.5m refurbishment we very much look forward to welcoming guests to DoubleTree by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn hotels in Stoke-on-Trent."

Peter Hales, managing director, Michels & Taylor Hotel Management, added: "We are excited to announce that the highly regarded DoubleTree by Hilton brand is coming to Stoke.

"This partnership will enhance our hotel’s offering and we are looking forward to working with Hilton.

"Our aim is to give our guests the best possible experience, and we feel Hilton - a globally recognised hospitality brand – offers that."

The news comes as a topping out ceremony was held this week less than a mile away at the Hilton Garden Inn development at Smithfield, in the city centre. The 140-room Hilton Garden Inn Stoke-on-Trent is expected to be open to guests in early 2020.
