The construction of hundreds of homes in Tamworth, which has also enabled more than £6m to be invested into the area, has completed.
Bellway has completed 314 properties at its Barley Fields development, off Ashby Road, including 87 affordable homes through shared ownership or rent.
Barley Fields is part of a wider scheme to provide 535 units and a riverside park on the site with housebuilder Ashberry Homes, alongside a new primary school – Anker Valley Primary Academy – and a Co-op supermarket.
As well as funding the primary school, which opened in September last year, the housebuilders have also invested more than £1.7m in secondary and sixth form school places, £440,000 towards sports facilities and £402,000 towards Tamworth Integrated Transport Strategy.
Marie Richards, sales director for Bellway West Midlands, said: "We are coming to an end of work at Barley Fields, following the sale of the final properties on site, bringing to a close what has been a transformative and long-standing development in Tamworth.
"This development has created a thriving and bustling neighbourhood, complete with its own school, supermarket, and 29 acres of attractive public open space, including a riverside walk along the Anker Valley.
"The wider benefits of the project have also included the widening of the Coton Lane junction with Comberford Road, and the creation of a pedestrian and cycle bridge across the Derby to Birmingham railway line to encourage walking and cycling.
"We have our regional headquarters here in Tamworth, so it is particularly rewarding to witness our vision for a high-quality new neighbourhood for the town come to fruition.
"The homes we've delivered in Tamworth have gone a long way to help meet the demand for new housing in the area and the community facilities we've provided will benefit new and existing residents now and for many years to come."
