Steelite International is expanding its facilities at their Stoke-on-Trent factory creating over 100 jobs.
Stoke-on-Trent planners have given consent for the construction of a new finishing and packing facility on land off Shirley Street adjacent to the existing factory.
The design of the new building, although outside the Middleport Conservation Area, will be “in-keeping and sympathetic” with the existing buildings. Glazed openings are to be incorporated within the Newcastle Street frontage to allow pedestrians to see in to the production area.
Ward councillor Alan Dutton has welcomed the jobs boost. He said: aI am over the moon about it as Steelite is a bigger employer in the city. They also do a lot to help the community and sponsored Burslem’s Christmas lights last year and this year.
aIt’s great there is extra jobs as that is what this city needs.”
