A planning application has been submitted to Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council for the redevelopment and transformation of the former Sainsbury’s and Civic Offices site in the town.

Plans envisage the creation of 65,000 sq. ft. of ground floor retail space including restaurant and leisure facilities. Also included in the planning application is the provision of 513 student flats and parking for 200 cars.

The application has been submitted by HDD (Newcastle-under-Lyme) Ltd., a joint venture between Henry Davidson Developments  and regeneration specialists U+I. The planning application is expected to go before Planning later this year.
