Stoke-on-Trent based logistics company, Browns Distribution, has constructed a new 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse at its Tunstall headquarters increasing the size of its current premises by 10%.

The £1.6 million investment also includes modernising technology and upgrading their infrastructure. It has also seen their staff numbers rise to 90, an increase of 13. This expansion of the company’s capacity will create the need for four new Scania Topline units and six Deker trailers.

Managing director David Brown Junior said: “We decided we wanted to invest in infrastructure to provide both existing and new clients with the opportunity to increase their storage and freight.

“We looked at different areas and premises around the city, but eventually we decided that it would be best to develop our existing site with a new warehouse.

“Business is doing very well at the moment so we want to continue to invest in infrastructure in the future.”

David added: “Competition is fierce in this industry and it is very fast-paced, but there are very few companies who are doing what we are doing. We are a full-service provider and that is what clients are looking for more and more.

“We will continue to grow and as we grow we will create more employment opportunities for the local area. The next few years are looking very promising.”

Daniel Griffiths, communications executive at Browns, said: “We are a family-run firm and are very proud to be based in Stoke-on-Trent and I believe that our recent expansion demonstrates our commitment to the area.”
