Plans for a 10,000-home development which will be supported by £750,000 government funding will bring further investment and community improvements, the county council leader said today.
The garden village development at Coldmeece near Stone would be sited on former Ministry of Defence land. It is one of five planned new communities which will receive government funding, Minister for State for Housing Kit Malthouse announced yesterday.
Staffordshire County Council leader Philip Atkins said: “The Millmeece development would bring much needed homes to the north of Stafford borough and attract more investment in the future.
“We look forward to working with the borough council to make this happen and importantly ensuring the right infrastructure is in place right from the start. We have worked hard with our partners to create an environment for business growth and job creation across Staffordshire and new housing will support this.
“The plans are in their early stages, but it is a crucial first step to receive this recognition from government.”
