A former police station in Stoke-on-Trent has been earmarked for the creation of more than 150 units of student accommodation.
Hewitt & Carr Services Ltd has lodged plans to transform the former Hanley Police Station to provide 151 one-bedroom apartments.
The building, which extends to four storeys, would also comprise a gymnasium, a communal student lounge, a plant room and laundry and bin storage areas.
Existing car parking at the site would be retained for use by the occupiers, accompanied by a secure cycle area.
A statement filed with Stoke-on-Trent City Council on behalf of the applicant said: "It is considered that the proposal constitutes an appropriate form of sustainable development that is in keeping with the adopted development strategy for the city, and which will derive an appropriate level of residential amenity for future occupants.
"The proposal is furthermore considered to be of a scale, massing and design that will contribute positively to the character of the area and will not derive any significant or severe residual impacts to highway safety."
