Development Projects
There are major projects transforming every area across Staffordshire. These are just a few recent developments delivering regeneration and infrastructure that’s ready for your investment.
West Midlands Interchange
will make Staffordshire the home to the UK’s largest logistics support hub. The West Midlands Interchange (WMI), including the Strategic Rail Freight Interchange, is a site of national economic significance lying at the intersection of three major engines of UK growth - the West and East Midlands and the Northwest.
The vision is built around a changing logistics world and the changing needs of the businesses that work within it. WMI will deliver world leading logistics warehousing within a strategic rail freight interchange. It will create up to 8,500 jobs, support the local community with two new Country Parks and provide sustainable foundations for the future of the logistics sector by replacing road freight for rail and producing 70% less carbon dioxide.
It is expected to generate around £430m of local economic activity and will bring significant strategic advantage to the area.
Fifty500
Staffordshire has a vision….to accelerate the economic growth opportunities along the A50 and A500 corridor. Focus is on advancing clean technology, fostering green growth, enhancing transport and logistics, improving connectivity, and investing in local skills.
At the western end of the corridor, the A500 connects to the M6 via Junctions 15 and 16. At the eastern end, the A50 connects to the M1 via Junction 24 and 24a creating a nationally important east to west strategic road link. The Midlands Growth Corridor initiative offers a unique opportunity to transform the area into one of the UK’s primary locations for investment, manufacturing and sustainable growth.
